Jim Anderson was born and raised in Seattle, Washington, USA. After a miserable stretch in the United States Army, he attended the University of Washington and eventually secured a a teaching post at the University of Calgary, Canada.
Taking a two year leave of absence from the job, he set out to realize a carefree dream of sailing his own yacht over unfettered seas to exotic destinations. Accordingly, he packed up his family including the dog, bought a book on how to sail, and set off for England to purchase a boat.
"The Longest Voyage (or how I learned to hate yachts)" is the story about that adventure.
Now retired, Anderson lives in Vancouver, British Columbia with his wife Sherry. He spends his time travelling and writing history books for a general audience. The Longest Voyage is his first effort to embark on a light-hearted adventure story.
